Rotwand - Vaél - Ciampedié
Tour description
Transfer with the shuttle bus to the Frommer pasture. From here we’ll continue to the Koelner shelter. That is where the hike starts: from the Paolina shelter at 2140m to the Rotwand shelter at 2280m. Here you will encounter a stunning view of the rocks of the Rosengarten area and the neighboring mountains of the Dolomites – from the Pala range to the Marmolada and the Tofana.

That is where the hike starts: from the Paolina shelter at 2140m to the Rotwand shelter at 2280m. Here you will encounter a stunning view of the rocks of the Rosengarten area and the neighboring mountains of the Dolomites – from the Pala range to the Marmolada and the Tofana.
Along the white and yellow slopes of the Mugoni the path devides and follows along the bizarre shapes of the Cigolade peaks (2300m) to the plateau of the Ciampedié at 1998m altitude. Shortly before Ciampedié the view of the Gardeccia valley opens up to the Vajolet peaks and the Larsec range as well as the eastern face of the Rosengarten peak.
On our way back we’ll go through the beautiful pine forest and later past fascinating rock formations to the Vael Stall. Across steep meadows we’ll descent down to the Karer pass. Alternatively, we can also go back to the Paolina shelter and take the chairlift.
