Venezia
Un tetro romanticismo circonda Venezia, percorsa fin nel cuore dalle acque della laguna. I canali tutt’uno con le calli, l’acqua inscindibile dalla terra. La luce rossastra, che al tramonto si rifrange sull’acqua, svela i canali come vene della città, il liquido come sangue vitale e al contempo mortale.
Scorre lento sotto i ponti storici, lascia specchiare gli innamorati, in attesa di impadronirsi anche delle calli, sconfinando altrettanto lentamente dai suoi letti, abbandonando gli argini e mescolandosi ai turisti. Ne bagna prima le suole, poi le caviglie, li accompagna dentro chiese e musei, li accoglie a piazza San Marco. Chi non gradisce la sua compagnia, si serve di passerelle sopraelevate, ma in fondo cela ammirazione e stupore, per un fenomeno unico al mondo. Come unica è Venezia, da molti indicata come la più bella città del mondo, di certo tra le più caratteristiche

The city stretches across 118 small islands in the marshy Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy. The saltwater lagoon stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po (south) and the Piave (north) Rivers. The population estimate of 272,000 inhabitants includes the population of the whole Comune of Venezia; around 60,000 in the historic city of Venice (Centro storico); 176,000 in Terraferma (the Mainland), mostly in the large frazione of Mestre and Marghera; and 31,000 live on other islands in the lagoon.
