The route to the Nature Park House with the famous Venetian saw? An exhilarating hike around Tiers from hut to hut. Or a proper hiking tour with törggelen in Autumn? You have a fantastic choice of routes. Telescopic poles, maps, and hiking guides can be borrowed from us at any time at the hotel. After your hiking holiday in the Dolomites, you can proudly claim: “Yes, I was right at the top”! Even those without training can climb one or more of our beautiful mountains, right up to the summit cross – this an exhilarating experience you should also treat yourself to.

Literature, maps, sticks to borrow

In Tiers, our hiking season starts at the beginning of May and lasts until the start of November. Perhaps you would like to get to know the landscape of our Schlern-Rosengarten nature park before you start hiking? Our hiking hotel in South Tyrol has an extensive hiking library at your disposal. Why not travel light and borrow maps and sticks from us!

Transfer with the hiking bus to the Frommeralm (1745m), from here we take the chairlift to the Kölner hut (2350m).  Now the hike starts over the Wassersteig, below the Rotwand, to the Christomanus monument (2220m). Continue to the Rotwand hut (2280m). There we take a lunch break. From the Rotwand hut we go through the beautiful Zirmwald down to the Karer pass. If we’re lucky, we may spot some marmots in the afternoon sun. We then follow path no. 1 and reach the Frommeralm, where we take the bus back to the hotel.

Experience highlights: the view of the famous Dolomite mountains on one side and close-up views of the rock world of the Rosengarten on the other.

Equipment: sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots, rain protection, warm sweater, backpack, water bottle, touring provisions.

Requirement: moderate difficulty

The path leads partly over scree fields and narrow paths, sure-footedness is required.

Transfer past Prösels Castle to Völser Weiher, 1050m. Ascent through forest to Tuffalm, 1270m. Take a small break. The tour continues through a relatively flat forest and meadow hike at the foot of the Hammerwand – enjoy consistently beautiful views of the Schlern plateau, the Isarco Valley and the Rittner Berg. The ascent to the Tschafon hut, 1740m starts at the fork in the road to Schlern. Detour to the Völseggerspitze, a spectacular viewpoint, and enjoy about 30 minutes lunch break in the cosy hut. The descent takes you under the Hammerwand, onto the Gamssteig to Weißlahnbad and back to the hotel.

Requirements: Good fitness and sure-footedness is required. No dangerous and exposed climbs.

Transfer by hiking bus to the Frommeralm, 1745m. Ascent with the lift to the Kölner hut, 2337m. At first there are some difficult rock steps, then there is a steep ascent in the scree to the Tschagerjoch, 2630m, 1 hour 20 mins. Enjoy the magnificent view to the Marmolada and the Larsec Group. Descent past the 600m high Rosengarten east face to the Vajolet hut, 2243m, 1 hour 15 mins. Ascend further up to the Grasleiten pass, 2600m, 1 hour and to the hut of the same name under the Kesselkogel, which at 3008 m is the highest peak in the Rosengarten. The descent leads through the Grasleitenkessel surrounded by impressive rock scenery to the Grasleiten hut, 2165m, and further into the Tschamin valley. After a beautiful hike along the Tschaminbach we reach St. Zyprian, 1200m and Hotel Dosses.

Experience highlights:

Impressive: Intimate close-up views into the rock world of the Rosengarten, the bizarre rock formations and vertical rock faces. Crossing: Hike through the central Rosengarten Group, from the Rosengartenspitze and the Vajolet Towers to the Tschamin Valley.

Requirements: demanding, good fitness and sure-footedness is required.

We take the bus to Seis to catch the Seiseralm cable car, which takes us to Compatsch. We then take the chairlift to the Berggasthof Panorama, 2010m. Over the alpine meadows we walk past the Goldknopf until reaching the foot of the Roßzähne. Now the trail leads steeply into serpentines through the scree up to the Roßzahnscharte, 2520m. From there we have a magnificent view of the Rosengarten, the Molignon ridge and the Marmolada. After a short crossing we reach the Tierser Alpl hut, where we stop for a leisurely lunch break. Then we hike down the Bärenloch to the Rechten Leger. From here the path goes back to the Schaferleger and through the Tsschamintal to the hotel.

Equipment: Sturdy, ankle-high hiking boots, rain cover, warm sweater, backpack, water bottle, touring provisions.

Requirement: challenging, long hike with a large difference in altitude in the descent. Sure-footedness is required

Transfer to the Seiseralm, 45 min., 1855m. Over the wide undulating meadows of the Seiseralm to the Saltner Schwaige, 1830m. The ascent to the Schlernhoch plateau starts here and over the Gamssteig to the Monte Pez summit (2600 m). Then descent to the historic Schlernhaus. Lunch break. The view ranges from the Rosengarten and the central and eastern Dolomite groups to the glacier mountains on the main Alpine ridge. The descent leads us over the Hochalm to the Tschafatschsattel, 2020m, followed by a steep descent to Hotel Dosses, 1125 m.

Experience highlights: one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the Dolomites. Geology and alpine flora: from the Seiseralm with volcanic rock to the bright Schlern dolomite.

Crossing: by transferring to the Seiseralm, the ascent is significantly shortened. The entire Schlernhoch plateau is crossed.

Requirement: strenuous. A hike with relatively little ascent but large differences in altitude in the descent and long walking time.

Transfer by hiking bus to the Frommeralm, from here we take the chairlift to the Kölner hut. Now we start the hike to the Paolina hut, 2140m and on to the Rotwand hut 2280m. From here we have a fantastic view of the rocks of the Rosengarten and the neighbouring Dolomite mountains, from the Pala Group to the Marmolada and the Tofana. Under the white-yellow face of the Mugoni, our trail branches off and leads just below the rocks of the bizarre Cigolade Towers at an altitude of around 2300m to the plateau of Ciampedié, 1998m. Shortly before Ciampedié, the view of the Gardeccia Valley, the Vajolet Towers, the Larsec Group and the east face of the Rosengartenspitze suddenly appears. The way back first passes through beautiful pine and spruce forest, and then past interesting rock formations to the Vaél stable. It then descends over steep alpine meadows to the Karer pass. From here we take the hiking bus back to the hotel. Alternatively we can go back to the Paolina hut and take the lift down from there.

Climb: lonely trail under the Mugoni peak and the Cigole Towers.

Geological: interesting rock formations and rock layers along the way.

Requirement: moderate. The path leads partly over scree fields and narrow paths, surefootedness is required.
